The Kitchenaid meat grinder is an attachment that can be used, and is approved, for all
authentic Kitchenaid household stand mixers. If you already own a stand mixer, there’s no reason why you
can’t get a meat grinder attachment, like any electrical appliance, you should always practice and follow the
basic safety precautions.
Read all of the instructions first before using the meat grinder. Never leave the meat grinder with a child unsupervised. Always unplug the appliance from the outlet when
you’re not using it, especially when you are disassembling it or cleaning.
To attach the Kitchenaid meat grinder, you first have to completely turn off and unplug the stand mixer.
This is to ensure that you do not get any accidents. Then, loosen up the attachment knob you can do this by
turning the knob counterclockwise. Remove the hub cover from the attachment and insert the shaft housing for the
meat grinder into the attachment hub. Make sure that the power shaft of the meat grinder fits right in with the
square hub socket. If it is not a good fit, you can easily rotate the attachment back and forth to make a better
fit.
Once the attachment is in the right position, you’ll feel the pin fit into the notch located at
the hub rim. Then, you’ll simply have to tighten the attachment knob to secure the meat grinder into the
mixer. It’s as easy as snapping it on! If you want to disassemble the unit, all you have to do is loosen the
ring. You can do it by hand. However, there are some instances when the ring is too tight. In this case, you
can use a wrench. Simply slip the wrench over the grooves of the ring and turn it counterclockwise. This was
specially designed to make disassembling the meat grinder easily.
When you are feeding meat onto the feeder, you’ll have to cut it into long, narrow strips to
make it easier for the machine to grind it up. The mixer should be cranked up to Speed 4. When feeding, you
should never put any body parts into the hopper. Use the food pusher that comes with the package. When you
grind vegetables or fruits, some liquid may appear in the hopper. That’s no problem. All you’ll have to do is
drain the liquid. You can easily do this by operating the mixer without processing additional food. You
should never try to grind any other food item until all of the excess liquid is completely drained from the
hopper. You can damage your mixer this way.
The Kitchenaid meat grinder needs to be cleaned regularly. To do this,
you need to disassemble the unit completely. You are free to use a dishwasher for the grind worm, ring, grinder
body and wrench. However, for the knife, wooden stopper and grinding plates, you’ll have to use warm soapy water
to hand wash them.
